Hosted by AMU, located on Fort Benning, Georgia. -Berthing. Arrange berthing early/ASAP. Reservations are only accepted 4 months to the day prior to arrival. Uchee Creek Recreation area: Located off base, about 20 minutes from the range. Reservations: 706-685-3060 ext 202. Very nice furnished cabins sleep 4-6 depending on size (small, medium, or large). Most cabins have a furnished kitchen. Cots are available to rent at the general store. Chalets sleep 8 and have two bedrooms and a loft with four bunks. Chalets also have a furnished kitchen. Firearms are permitted on the Uchee Creek Rec area. Price varies based on rank. Advanced reservations are six months max for local residents, three months for members not in the local area. Barracks/CBQ: Olson Hall, bldg 399D. 706-689-0067. Firearms are not permitted at the CBQ. Local hotels are OK as long as you stay away from the “roach motels” just outside the base. -Range location. Phillips Range is neatly tucked away adjacent and behind the gas station/mini mart on Dixie Road. Turn on Phillips Street right by the gas station. The ranges are partially covered. The firing line is covered. The target area is not covered (which is what makes it “Outdoor” shooting). -Weather. Usually hot and humid!! Stay hydrated! Use sunscreen. There is almost zero wind blowing on these pistol ranges. -Course of fire (COF). Know the COF and ammo requirements for every day. Know your relay, firing point and range procedures. Squadding list is posted on the bulletin board outside the range. Study the match bulletin and your competitor packet from the AMU. Historical COF- Saturday warm up matches- 60 rounds of .22, 60 rounds of CF. Sunday warm up matches- 60 rounds of .45, 60 rounds of Service Pistol. Monday. 90 rounds of .22 for IS Championship individual aggregate in the morning. 30 rounds of .22 for team in the afternoon. This is the template for the rest of 3600 aggregate (2700 NRA Pistol and 900 Service Pistol combined scores). Tuesday. 90 rounds CF for IS Championship aggregate and 30 rounds for CF team. Wednesday. 90 rounds .45 for IS Championship aggregate and 30 for .45 team. EIC match. Thursday. 90 rounds Service Pistol (SP) for IS Championship aggregate and 30 for SP team. Friday. TBD. Combat matches or something similar. Banquet in the evening. Service Uniform (whites or equivalent). -Base ops. Obey the speed limit at all times. They like to hand out tickets. -Entry fees. Report to the range for check in, located in one of the Range Offices (stat shack). Match fees are ~$80 (includes the banquet). -Chow. Government messing or a “mobile canteen” is not available. Lunch break is usually one hour. There are a number of fast food establishments on base or pack a brown bag. A full size PX and Commissary are located about 10 minutes from the range. -Team Application. Check the USNST webpage or with the Team OIC for team application. -Equipment. Bring your shooting and non-shooting gear. Gun box and scope are a must. Borrow one if necessary. Staple gun, staples, pens, and clipboards are a must. Some bleachers and benches are on the range under the covered area. Shooter’s seating is available. “Bag” type chairs are nice to have outside the range area but there is little to no room for them inside the range building. -Parking. Parking is adequate at the range. Stay off the grass! -Crane van. Crane normally sends an F350 pick up with two armors, tools, and a limited amount of parts and equipment. Crane armors work off of the picnic tables. Always say “thank you” to the fine folks at NSWC Crane for their support that keeps our program afloat. AMU Website. Visit the AMU website, HYPERLINK "http://www.usaac.army.mil" www.usaac.army.mil (competitions page) for more information on match program, range locations, hotels and lodging, and restaurants. -Pride and Professionalism. You are a representative of your Command, USNST, and the US Navy. Maintain your appearance and professionalism at all times. Maintain your shooting uniform (cammies and USNST ball cap) per the uniform manual. -Saved rounds or Alibis. These matches attract the absolute best shooters from all branches of service. Expect ~100 competitors. This match does not utilize NRA classifications, so shoot your best scores, on demand! Expect to shoot about 75% of the day, from 0730 to 1530. This is a professional and well-run match. The flow is smooth and steady. All AMU shooting facilities are top notch and well maintained. Be prepared to seek out and say “hello” to Olympic level shooters.
